Reminisce, compare or just simply admire cars from another era!

We had Bernie’s iconic XR Falcon in the shop this week — you might remember it from Street Machine, September 2023. Since then, Bernie has pulled the Gurney Eagle EFI combo and slotted in a carb-fed 427 Windsor and brought it in to get it sorted for proper street duties.

Now the Windsor is running crisp, the suspension is dialled and the XR is ready to hit the streets again where it belongs.

It was an absolute honour to have Dave’s iconic HJ on the dyno last week.

This car holds a special place in Rhys’s heart — a part of his life since the early '90s when his dad first dropped in the big block Chev and mini tubs. From tearing up the Easter Nats burnout pad next to his dad’s XY GT and landing on the front page of the Local Express, to running an impressive 8.8 at Calder with a nitrous-fed big block, this HJ has always made an impact.

As a teenager, Rhys watched from the stands, inspired by the car’s sheer presence and performance. Having it in the workshop felt like a full-circle moment.

After Dave completed a full rebuild converting the HJ back to street duties, he brought it in for a tune — and we were stoked to help. A few key adjustments including refining the timing, adjusting the rockers, and fine-tuning the carb brought it to life. It’s now running crisp and strong, pushing out 510hp at the rear wheels.

This HJ Monaro has been built to cruise, not to collect dust.

We carried out a full front and rear suspension rebuild, overhauled the braking system all round, and fitted a new electronic ignition setup complete with custom-length leads. A set of lowered springs and shocks give it the perfect stance, while the new LED headlights sharpen up the front end.

To finish it off, we bolted on some fresh dress rims to bring out the classic GTS style, wrapped in brand new BF Goodrich red wall tyres. It also received a full service, making sure everything’s dialled in and ready to go.

Now this Monaro is set to enjoy the spring sunshine in style.

American Muscle

This classic Pontiac Firebird came to us with hesitation issues and lacking power.

After a few fuel system tweaks, a carburetor tune-up, and dialing in the ignition timing, it roared back to life.

We’re not your average mechanics — we like to mix it up a bit! This old-school Valiant came to us chasing that tough Pro Street look, Rhys got to work.

We moved the leaf springs inboard, fitted mono leafs with sliders, and set it up with a 9" diff and Wilwood brakes. The original tubs were widened just enough to keep that clean factory look, and we wrapped it all up with a set of classic Centerline wheels and Mickey Thompson Sportsman tyres.
